But this poses the question: \u201cWhat is it that makes some brands grow quicker than others?\u201d<!--more--><\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>The Rise of Digitally Native Vertical Brands (DNVBs)<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To coincide with this change, ecommerce experts are saying that we\u2019re seeing \u201cthe rise of Digitally Native Vertical Brands (DNVBs).\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">DNVBs are a cluster of brands that have emerged as solely online businesses such as <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gymshark.com\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gymshark<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/bonobos.com\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bonobos<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.birchbox.com\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Birchbox<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and have achieved the following in a very short amount of time:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Significant growth<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">High order volumes<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">High brand awareness<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Strong digital presence<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So what can we learn from these brands? They are agile<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Retail is changing fast and we\u2019ve seen what has happened to those businesses who haven\u2019t been as agile as others, such as Toys R Us and electronics retailer, Maplin. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Companies like this have sadly not spotted new and emerging trends, or reacted quickly enough to them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The risk is increased for bigger businesses, yet the concept of agility and being able to iterate quickly is hugely important for two reasons &#8212; so you can take advantage of new opportunities, and keep up with changing customer experiences. If you don\u2019t, someone else will.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As an example of agility in action, <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.boohoo.com\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Boohoo<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> release up to 300 new products per day. How they\u2019ve formed their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brightpearl.com\/supply-chain\">supply chain<\/a> &#8211; everything from the design and manufacturing process, through to website and marketing updates, and fulfillment and logistics is an engine that has been developed around the concept of agility.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>2. They take advantage of user generated content (UGC)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">High growth ecommerce brands recognize their customers as a major source of marketing for their own businesses.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">User generated content, or UGC, is the concept of customers sharing photos and videos of their purchases with friends and followers via social networks like Instagram and Youtube. Getting involved with UGC develops a strong level of trust for your brand, but also helps to improve engagement and excitement about your brand.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Furthermore, by encouraging shoppers to share their experiences, they\u2019ll feel much more aligned to your products and brand, improving loyalty.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lingerie retailer, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/lounge.com\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lounge Underwear<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, is one brand that truly understands the importance of UGC, resulting in a large influencer following and strong levels of customer engagement via Instagram.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>3. They automate<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Brands that automate are almost guaranteed to see significant levels of growth, but with fewer business challenges and growing pains.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What we continually see is that after every click of the \u201cbuy button\u201d, the processes behind that are highly repetitive, such as checking the order is complete and paid, fulfilling orders, updating cross-channel <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brightpearl.com\/inventory-management-system\">inventory<\/a> levels, and reordering products.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All of these steps have to take place, but this can become labor intensive, inefficient and prone to error without the right systems in place.
