File rename issue

Moved,  Done, since the most recent revision was a revert to an existing one, I have removed all revdelled existing broken ones. Now that the file is in sync with the database, I think we don't have any other problem left. But for a matter of concern, the unloading of the thumbnails must be investigated. License review needed

File:CUSCO SEÑOR DE LOS TEMBLORES 2016.webm is set to be MOTD by User:RoyZuo at Template:Motd/2026-05-28 but lacks a license review. There is no LR noticeboard. Please review the file before it becomes MOTD.
My personal take (not a license reviewer): the YT account seems fine, but DW should be considered. There's music (sounds like general fanfare, but maybe there are performance rights?), and the crucified man could potentially be considered a work of art. I'll leave it to a license reviewer to decide.
The file also lacks a description on the MOTD page, so I have no idea what I'm looking at. (this part could be solved by non-admins) - Alexis Jazz ^{ping plz} 12:55, 22 May 2026 (UTC)

Yann, perhaps one day. I already feel like I'm drowning. Please review File:Michelin Bib Gourmand Fishball Noodles - The Fishball Story 2019.webm as well, scheduled for Template:Motd/2026-05-29. It looks fine to me, sethlui.com links back to that YT channel and no obvious DW concerns. There is background music, but YT automatically removes CC licenses when it detects a copyright infringement, which it hasn't done in this case.
For Template:Motd/2026-05-30 we'll get File:Majuro Lagoon Part 1 Papa Mau And Makali`i Arrive In Majuro Lagoon.webm, also lacking LR. I haven't had time to look at this one yet. Abuse Filter 339: POTY gallery protection

Revibot, for the past seven months, has been trying to fix a double redirect of a 2024 POTY vote page but it can't due to an abuse filter. Moving a category

Could someone with the right administration tools please move Category:Göteborg and all its subcategories to Category:Gothenburg etc.? Ove Raul (talk) 14:50, 24 May 2026 (UTC)

Category talk:Göteborg doesn't seem to be clearly one way or the other. Certainly I can see no reason to make this move. If only for the reason that it's a whole pile of work to move a big tree like this, and any improvement would be tiny. Andy Dingley (talk) 15:58, 24 May 2026 (UTC)

Which rules would those be? This is a proper name. COM:Categories notes their exclusion. So we could legitimately use either form, and would resolve this according to some degree over consensus, addressing the broadest clarity that we can easily achieve. But there is no clear consensus on the discussion so far and 'Göteborg' is well recognised by English speakers. Andy Dingley (talk) 16:34, 24 May 2026 (UTC)

The rule is that English names should be used, if there is an established English proper name, and there is one here. The English name of this city is Gothenburg. I am the owner of the trademark and file File:Worldwide_Phonecards_Collectors_Club_logo.png. I need to correct the license tag from {{Copyright by Wikimedia}} to {{cc-by-sa-4.0}} as the copyright belongs to the Worldwide Phonecards Collectors Club, not to the Wikimedia Foundation. @Moez Bonsoir. I think you need to nominate the images for deletion, see: Commons:Deletion policy. That way a person that created the image will get a chance to respond. Welcoming new users

Hi, Automatic welcoming new users has been disabled. This is a silly moved. We need more welcoming, not less. I have been welcoming new users manually, but this is not sustainable. I am quite feed up. So we need to setup our own welcoming bot. I could run it, but I don't know how to code it. Is there anything ready, or nearly ready? Thanks, Yann (talk) 22:12, 24 May 2026 (UTC)

I would say welcome only those who upload an image here, not those who accidentally open Wikimedia Commons through an image elsewhere. This is crux of my understanding from the recent global Welcoming policy, and addresses our needs. ─ Aafī on Mobile ^(talk) 08:28, 25 May 2026 (UTC)

The user is non-standard (set in: Newusermessage-editor), but it is sending messages: Special:Contributions/Wikimedia Commons Welcome. BTW. The extension is mw:Extension:NewUserMessage. As I understand wgNewUserMessageOnAutoCreate = false was set on 14th of May (phab:T426206). Probably worth reporting problems on phab if there are some accounts doing edits and not getting messages. Can someone please take care of Commons:Administrators/Requests/Eginaux. I've closed it bcoz there is zero need to waste even one second there. I would instead want some admin to indef the two participants alongwith the account nominated here. One can say that account has zero edits but its pretty obvious that these are all connected.
